Why Portaris?
When a business leader invites someone into their business as a partner, they’re looking for someone who can see the business through more than one lens.
Because what looks like a challenge in one area often connects to something happening somewhere else.
That perspective is at the heart of why Portaris exists.
Portaris didn't begin with the idea of starting another consulting company. It grew naturally from our founder spending years working across different businesses and industries, taking on different responsibilities, and seeing firsthand how connected every part of a business really is.
With over 26 years of experience, his career has crossed hospitality, marketing, retail, sales, operations, training, talent, Human Resources, and executive leadership—including significant chapters with global brands such as The Swatch Group, Luxottica, and Lucky Strike/Bowlero. His responsibilities have ranged from leading large, multi-location businesses to advising executives, developing leaders, and looking across the many different pieces that make a business work.
With each new responsibility came another lens.
His experience also extended beyond the businesses he directly led. As part of Swatch’s Global Retail Task Force, he worked with colleagues in Switzerland as a strategic partner to the global operation, contributing perspective and experience to business strategy and leadership across markets. His experience later expanded beyond the U.S. into Canada and Mexico.
Those experiences shaped the way he approaches challenges today.
Because the root cause of a challenge isn’t always obvious—and it doesn’t always live in the place where the problem first shows up.
Sometimes understanding what’s really happening means looking beyond one function, connecting what others may see separately, and peeling back the layers until the bigger picture comes into focus.
And throughout those experiences, one part of the work became especially meaningful:
Guiding Others
Mentoring leaders. Developing talent. Sitting beside someone when something was complicated. Asking questions. Offering perspective.
Whether it was guiding a leader through a business challenge or helping someone think about where they wanted to go next, there was something meaningful about being part of that process.
Eventually, it led to a bigger thought:
Why should that kind of partnership only exist inside a large company?
What about the business owner who doesn’t have an executive team down the hall?
The growing business facing something it hasn’t faced before?
Or the leader who simply wants an experienced perspective before deciding what comes next?
There was an opportunity to take decades of experience across different industries, functions, businesses, and leadership situations and make that perspective available in a more personal, right-sized way.
That’s why Portaris exists.
Not to hand someone a catalog of services or tell them how to run their business.
But to be invited in. To get to know the people and the business. To understand what’s really happening. And to bring experience and perspective to whatever comes next.
A partner who can look through more than one lens—and help you see the whole picture.
